Charlotte is a teenage girl growing up in the 1960s. She is torn between her passion for a young man who works at the local church and her desire – despite being Jewish – to become a nun. Newly arrived in town, the tensions soon increase between Charlotte, her swimming-obsessed younger sister, and their man-eating mother – a single parent who cannot come to grips with her family.

This is great easy watching chick flick. Except you have to get up for a quick boogie when Cher sings the ‘Shoop shoop’ song. A lovely rom com.
Some audiences may find it rather dated.
